Skubala gives updates on Bristol City strikers ahead of Bolton

Bristol City boss Michael Skubala has confirmed Lorent Tolaj faces a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bolton Wanderers.

Tolaj returned to the Robins squad against Stoke City after missing the previous three games, but suffered a heavy blow to his hip following a collision with goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

“He got a big whack on Saturday,” Skubala said.

“So he’s got a late fitness test for this Saturday. It’s nothing long-term, but he’s got a contusion on his hip.

“He got whacked by the keeper, so it’s a massive bruise. He’s missed quite a lot of training this week, but again, it will be a late call if he makes it for Saturday.”

Luke McNally is also continuing to build his fitness, but Elijah Adebayo is set to miss the next couple of games with a quad strain.

“Elijah Adebayo is probably going to miss the next couple of games,” Skubala said.

“We’ll see whether he makes Saturday or doesn’t make it before the next window.

“He’s had a little bit of a strain; we’ve had that scanned and looked at, so he’s going to be out for the foreseeable.

“He came off the pitch after Sheffield United with a quad strain. We thought he might recover quite quickly, but he’s going to need a bit more time.

“I think the rest of the squad’s looking good and healthy.”

There was more positive news on Rob Dickie, who has returned to training after five weeks out.

“Rob’s back in, which is great news,” Skubala said.

“We’ll see whether he’s available for Saturday. He’s been out five weeks, and he’s been with the team today for the first time.

“We’ll see how that looks for Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Noah Eile is continuing his recovery from a recent illness.

“Noah’s still poorly. He’s still not available,” Skubala said.

“He’s definitely heading in the right direction now,” Skubala told Bristol Live. “We’ve got a good grip of it. He’s been quite poorly, so naturally when you’re quite poorly, you lose a bit of weight and all the things you expect from being ill, but we’re definitely on the right side of it.”
