Kate Martin, Unrivaled reach mutual contract termination

· Yahoo Sports

Despite initially re-signing with Unrivaled on a reported multi-year deal, the league and former Iowa guard Kate Martin have reached a mutual contract termination agreement.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Unrivaled for the opportunity to be part of its first two seasons,” Martin said in a statement. “It’s been special to help launch a league that continues to elevate women’s basketball. While I’m excited about what’s on the horizon for me, I’m so thankful for the people, the competition, and the memories I’ve made in Unrivaled.”

Martin’s 2026 WNBA season was full of twists and turns, as she played for three different franchises throughout the year. She started the year with the Golden State Valkyries, but was waived on May 7. Shortly after, she joined the Los Angeles Sparks for 17 games before the team waived her in August.

Martin then signed a developmental contract with the Chicago Sky and appeared in two games. Through her three-team journey, Martin averaged 2.6 points on 41.5% shooting in 7.7 minutes per game this past season.
