Lamar Jackson cleared to play after missing three games with ankle sprain
Lamar Jackson has been cleared to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after missing three games with a high ankle sprain. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback has no injury designation for the Week 8 matchup.

Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain against the Tennessee Titans on October 4. Before leaving the game, he recorded 222 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and 20 rushing yards, with a 144.2 passer rating. The injury forced him to miss the next three games against the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.
Jackson completed full practices on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The previous week, ankle swelling prevented him from playing against Cincinnati despite making progress in his recovery. Jackson also discussed his recovery, saying his ankle had improved enough to allow better movement. “I feel like I’m no longer a statue, man. I’m able to move around a little better, so I can give it a shot,” he said.
Baltimore went 1–2 during Jackson’s absence, with Tyler Huntley starting all three games. Huntley threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns against Atlanta, 165 yards and one touchdown against Cleveland, and 298 yards and one touchdown against Cincinnati. He also threw one interception against the Bengals. Across the three starts, Huntley completed 66 of 97 passes for 664 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He added 60 rushing yards.
Before his injury, Jackson recorded 967 passing yards, six touchdowns and one interception through four games. He completed 70.8% of his passes, while Baltimore went 3–1 in his starts.
High ankle sprains can limit running and changes of direction, movements that are important to Jackson’s style of play.
Baltimore will face Buffalo on November 1. The Bills enter the matchup with a 5–1 record, while the Ravens are 4–3. Jackson has a 2–4 record against Buffalo in regular-season and playoff games. The teams last met during the previous season, when the Bills won 41–40.
“We do think we’ll have Lamar this week,” Ravens Head coach Jesse Minter said. “I’m excited about that. He’s had a really good week of practice.”
Jackson completed three full practices this week and carries no injury designation for Sunday’s game, though he has acknowledged that some ankle discomfort remains.’
