Michael Jordan knows a thing or two about winning, and Gabby Williams was in for a surprise of a lifetime when he reached out to congratulate her.

The Golden State Valkyries star defeated the Atlanta Dream in Game 7 of the WNBA Finals, the first time that the league was pushed to the last qualifier round in the series. Williams, a forward for the Valkyries, shared that Jordan reached out to her to congratulate her on her first-ever WNBA championship win.

“My Jordan rep agent texted me, and he was just like, ‘Just so you know,  it’s not spam, but you’re gonna get a text,’ ” Williams told People about the moment. “And I was driving, and I was like, ‘Do not crash your car, do not crash your car. Get to the gym, get to the parking lot.’”

Williams added that the six-time NBA champion praised her for becoming a WNBA champion.

“He congratulated me, and said it’d been an amazing season and just told me, ‘Stay hungry.’ ” she told the outlet. “That felt like a very Michael Jordan thing to say.”

Williams also left with the WNBA Finals MVP title  after the thrilling 68–63 Game 7 victory over the Dream. She also praised their head coach, Natalie Nakase, for leading the team to the franchise's first-ever win.

"Coach Nat is the most competitive person I've ever met in my entire life. But she is competitive in everything that she does, you know, even how she treats people, even how she shows up every day, and we all feed off of that," Williams said. "I think she's a leader by example. She cares so, so deeply on a human level for each person, and you just want to go through a wall for her."
