Colts rumors: Jonathan Taylor ‘expects to be traded,’ insider claims appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Jonathan Taylor watched the Indianapolis Colts trade left guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner hours apart. He probably caught glimpse of a team social media post that was hyping up rookie running back Seth McGowan on that same day. He also knows that the organization is undergoing changes after firing general manager Chris Ballard. The franchise has done everything to signal that a rebuild is underway, except ship out No. 28.

Most fans anticipate that he too will switch teams before the Nov. 10 deadline, and apparently, so does the player himself.

“My understanding is Jonathan Taylor expects to be traded,” insider James Palmer said on the NFL on Prime Video postgame show Thursday night. “We’ll see if somebody gets up {to the Colts’ high asking price}.”

Palmer listed the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos as suitors. There have been offers, but Indianapolis is currently not satisfied with the packages that are being presented. Nonetheless, Taylor is bracing himself for a change of scenery.

The 27-year-old is a former All-Pro who has led the NFL in rushing yards once and rushing touchdowns twice. He is the Colts’ all-time leader in the latter category (77 TDs) and ranks second behind Edgerrin James in the former (8,208). The body of work is undeniably impressive, hence why Indy is seeking significant value in return.

But is a decline coming? Taylor is averaging an adequate yet unspectacular 4.1 yards per rushing attempt this season. While he is still dangerous with the ball in his hands, one has to wonder if this efficiency dip is only the beginning. Back-to-back seasons with 300-plus carries are bound to take a toll on a man.

Playoff-caliber squads clearly still covet his skill set, however. Taylor is preparing for Sunday’s meeting with the visiting Dallas Cowboys, but he is perfectly aware of the prominent place he occupies in the rumor mill. The No. 41 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is exercising common sense ahead of the trade deadline.

Taylor has amassed 812 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns through eight games played.
