Mumbai News: Kanchi Shankaracharya Joins Chaitra Navratri Palki Procession At Matunga’s Marubai Gaondevi Temple

Mumbai, April 3: Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati, who is on a 10-day visit to the city, took part in the procession of "Palki" of Marubai Gaondevi temple at Matunga on Thursday evening.

Thousands join Palki procession

Thousands of devotees participated in the procession, which was accompanied by dance and devotional music. The Palki procession of Marubai Devi is taken on the last day of Chaitra Utsav at the temple.

Shankaracharya to preside over key rituals

The Shankaracharya, who arrived in Mumbai on April 2, will preside over two significant Jeernodharana Kumbhabhishekams in Matunga. The first Kumbhabhishekam will be held at Sri Sankara Mattham on April 6, followed by another at the 300-year-old Marubai Gavdevi Mandir on April 9.

Participation in leadership forum

On April 7, the Shankaracharya will attend Dharmam Chara 2026, a thought-leadership forum focusing on ethics, governance, and responsible leadership in building a Viksit Bharat.
