Brothers in the NFL: The rare club A.J. Terrell and Avieon Terrell joined

The NFL Draft delivered a rare moment in the second round when the Atlanta Falcons found themselves in a perfect position that changed the lives of A.J. Terrell and Avieon Terrell.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski called star cornerback A.J. Terrell to let him know the team would select his brother, Avieon Terrell. Just two days into the draft, the Terrell brothers became teammates in Atlanta.

The Terrell brothers join a long list of brothers who have shared the field as NFL teammates—some of whom even won Super Bowls together.

Here are notable NFL brothers who played together during their professional careers:

Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin

Drafted just a year apart, the Griffin brothers played together for the Seattle Seahawks from 2018 to 2020—and they’re twins. They first teamed up at UCF from 2013 to 2016. According to legend, Shaquill told programs he would only commit to a school that also offered his brother.

Shaquill remains in the league and won a Super Bowl during his 2025 return to Seattle. Shaquem last played in 2021 and has since been inducted into the UCF Hall of Fame.

Connor and Cameron Heyward

The first of two Pittsburgh Steelers brother duos on this list, Cameron Heyward entered the league as a first-round pick in 2011.

Eleven years later, the Steelers drafted his younger brother, Connor Heyward. The pair played together from 2022 to 2025.

Both remain in the NFL, with Cameron still in Pittsburgh and Connor now with the Las Vegas Raiders. They followed in the footsteps of their father, Craig “Ironhead” Heyward, who also played in the league.

T.J. and Derek Watt

Part of a football dynasty, T.J. Watt and Derek Watt played together from 2020 to 2022. The Steelers reached the postseason in consecutive seasons during that stretch, and T.J. earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2021.

In 2020, the brothers faced their oldest sibling, J.J. Watt, and nearly convinced him to join Pittsburgh in 2021 free agency. Had that happened, all three Watt brothers would have shared the same roster.

Ryan and Matt Kalil

Another football family produced Ryan and Matt Kalil, who followed their father into the NFL. Ryan earned All-Pro honors at center, while Matt made the Pro Bowl as an offensive tackle.

They played together on the Carolina Panthers from 2017 to 2018 and remain one of the few brother duos to both earn Pro Bowl selections.

Champ and Boss Bailey

Older brother Champ Bailey set the stage for Boss Bailey, as both became standout players at the University of Georgia. Champ entered the NFL in 1999, followed by Boss in 2003.

They later reunited with the Denver Broncos, playing together from 2008 to 2009.

Quinnen and Quincy Williams

The Williams brothers share a rare distinction: both entered the NFL in the same 2019 draft class.

Quincy joined Quinnen on the New York Jets in 2021, and they remained teammates through 2025. Since then, Quinnen has moved to the Dallas Cowboys, while Quincy signed with the Cleveland Browns during the most recent offseason.

Devin and Jason McCourty

Another set of twins, Devin and Jason McCourty, played together for the New England Patriots from 2018 to 2020. Jason entered the league in 2009, with Devin following in 2010.

Together, they captured four combined Super Bowl rings and shared the field for the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII championship team.
