Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall is thriving in his new role. The one area heโ€™s been most successful is in recruiting, taking it to a level not seen under former head coach Billy Napier.

The class of 2027 already has 14 commitments in it, with five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller leading the way as the No. 3 overall recruit, per Rivals. Sumrall already has two top-100 commitments in this class, doubling what Napier secured in the 2026 class before he was fired.

Four-Star WR Elias Pearl

  • Pearl is another target from the state of Florida, residing in Port Charlotte less than 200 miles from Gainesville.
  • The Rivalsโ€™ Industry Ranking ranks Pearl as the 95th overall recruit and the 17th-best wide receiver in the 2027 class.
  • Florida has two wide receivers committed in the 2027 class, including four-star Tramond Collins and four-star Anthony Jennings.

Florida Gators likely to land commitment from four-star WR Elias Pearl

The next likely commit for the Gators is going to be four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl. The Port Charlotte, Florida product is set to commit on Tuesday afternoon, with two schools vying for his commitment: the Gators and Ole Miss Rebels.

Pearl is a rising recruit in the 2027 class, especially after winning the MVP at the Miami Rivals Camp in February. The 95th-overall recruit per the Rivals Industry Ranking has been a top target of the Gators for months. Wide receivers coach Marcus Davis has the Gators on the right track to land him ahead of his commitment date.

This would be the third four-star wide receiver for the Gators in the 2027 class, joining Tramond Collins and Anthony Jennings, with the latter tweeting his support of Pearl.

Getting Pearl would be the third top-100 commit of the cycle thus far, and there are multiple others who can vault into the top-100 with strong senior seasons. Landing Pearl will likely be the final addition at wide receiver in the 2027 class, with it being 20% of their projected 15 commitments once Pearl chooses the Gators.
