Several Eagles miss an OTA practice on Wednesday
· Yahoo Sports
The Philadelphia Eagles continue navigating the portion of the offseason where attendance comes with an important reminder. These practices are voluntary.
That context matters whenever notable names are missing from organized team activities, especially at this time of year when every attendance update suddenly becomes part of the daily news cycle. Still, when multiple starters and recognizable contributors are absent from a session open to reporters, people naturally take notice.

Wednesday’s OTA workout offered another example of that.
Several notable Eagles were absent from Philadelphia's May 27 practice
According to John McMullen, six Eagles did not participate in Wednesday’s OTA session. That list includes the following names:
- Lane Johnson
- Jalen Carter
- Dontayvion Wicks
- Jihaad Campbell (shoulder)
- Joe Tryon-Shoyinka
- A.J. Brown
Most of those absences don’t appear alarming at this stage of the offseason. In fact, McMullen noted all but one of those players, presumably Brown, attended Tuesday’s session.
Veteran players often rotate participation during voluntary practices, particularly established stars like Johnson and Carter, who have little left to prove during May workouts. Jihaad Campbell’s situation is easier to understand, given the shoulder issue that he is recovering from.
Then, there’s the obvious elephant in the room. A.J. Brown remains absent while trade speculation surrounding his future continues to intensify ahead of June 1.
Elsewhere, rookie safeties Cole Wisniewski and Tucker Large were reportedly present at the facility, although not participating in the actual session. Linebacker Chandler Martin was also present but sidelined during practice.
Again, this is the time of year when caution usually outweighs urgency. Philadelphia’s focus remains on getting healthy, installing systems, and preparing for training camp rather than pushing veterans through unnecessary reps in late May. Still, every practice observation becomes noteworthy when expectations surrounding the Eagles remain this high. That’s simply part of the territory when you’re one of the NFL’s most popular teams.
