UFC Macau face-offs: Officials break things up after Song Yadong steps in on Deiveson Figueiredo

UFC Fight Night: Song vs. Figueiredo goes down this Saturday, May 30th from Macau, China and everything is set for an amazing event. All fighters have stepped on the scale and made weight, so there’s nothing left to do but fight.

Following the ceremonial weigh-ins, the UFC had all the fighters from the card face-off with some interesting results.

At the very top of the card, Chinese fighter Song Yadong came into his staredown with Deiveson Figueiredo in an aggressive manner, walking right into the former flyweight champion and forcing UFC exec David Shaw to step in and force the bantamweight fighter back.

Song is looking to bounce back from a close decision loss to Sean O’Malley back in January, while Figueiredo hopes to erase the memory of a one-sided blanking on the scorecards he suffered against Umar Nurmagomedov. The winner gets to stay relevant in the bantamweight title picture, while the loser may end up in a gatekeeper position.

“Mountain Tiger” Zhang Mingyang was calm and cool during his faceoff with Alonzo Menifield as they prepare for their light heavyweight bout in Macau. Zhang had a 12 fight win streak snapped by Johnny Walker in August 2025, while Menifield was finished by Volkan Oezdemir in November 2025.

And in heavyweight action, Sergei Pavlovich and Tallison Teixeira were content to calmly stare each other down during their faceoff. Teixeira is 9-1 in MMA and 2-1 in UFC and hopes a win over the No. 3 ranked Pavlovich will rocket him to the top of the division from his current No. 15 spot. After a two fight losing streak, Pavlovich had a successful 2025, going 2-0 that year with two decision wins.
