It has been multiple weeks since the New York Knicks won the NBA championship, but news is still coming out that makes the win even more impressive. The latest news to come out is that Jalen Brunson was playing through a wrist injury during the NBA Finals.
While Brunson did struggle across many games, he always managed to step up during the clutch-time moments. Making all those shots on an injured wrist that now requires surgery proves that it was such an impressive championship run.

Playing against the San Antonio Spurs was already a huge obstacle for the Knicks. Victor Wembanyama was quite literally the biggest hurdle they had to overcome, but it was the small guard who led his team to the championship.
Brunson might have struggled with efficiency in the early part of the series, but he still managed to lead his team with his ability to score in the biggest moments. He rightfully earned the Finals MVP honors because of his standout performances.

Considering he had to play against the tough defense of the likes of Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, Brunson had an impressive series. It becomes even better when his wrist injury is taken into account.
"Jalen Brunson is the type of player, if he's on the floor, is gonna do his best. Finding out in hindsight that there was an injury that would require surgery only adds to his lore and status as the King of New York," Monica McNutt said on ESPN about the Knicks' title run becoming more impressive.
The Knicks have all summer to celebrate their championship run. Brunson might need some time to recover from his surgery, but he has earned that time off for everything he did for the Knicks in that championship run.
