The video shows Deckerhoff inside the radio booth before head coach Mike Norvell FaceTimes him and breaks the news.
"It's my tremendous honor to tell you that you are actually standing in the new Gene Deckerhoff radio booth right here at Florida State and Doak Campbell Stadium," Norvell said.
"What a tremendous honor, and Go Noles," Deckerhoff said in response.
Deckerhoff began calling Seminole men’s basketball games in 1974 and assumed FSU football play-by-play duties in 1979. He retired from his role with FSU in 2022 and from his post with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
His voice is legendary in Tallahassee and Tampa, and his "Touchdown" calls emphasized some of the biggest moments in both FSU and Buccaneers history.
