Napheesa Collier probable to make her return to Lynx on Wednesday

The first-place Minnesota Lynx might get a big boost one game before the All-Star break.
Five-time all-star Napheesa Collier, who has missed the entire season while recovering from surgery on both ankles, could make her return Wednesday as Minnesota finishes the first half with an afternoon contest in Seattle. The Lynx said Collier is probable for Wednesday’s game on one of the team’s official X accounts.

Collier, a four-time All-WNBA selection and the league’s defensive player of the year in 2024, was injured in Game 3 of WNBA semifinals last year against Phoenix. Collier averaged a career-best 22.9 points per game last season, while shooting a career-high 40.3 percent from 3-point territory. She added 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
“You do your rehab, and you get your body strong, but there’s nothing like in-game to get that rust off and to get that last hesitation or whatever it is out of your system,” Collier said recently.
Without their star, the Lynx still own the league’s best record at 21-6, two games better than Las Vegas, thanks to the emergence of rookie all-star Olivia Miles, an all-star first season from Natasha Howard in Minnesota and continued strong play from Kayla McBride.
Now, the Lynx will welcome one of the WNBA’s top players back in the fold. Collier has been in the top 5 of MVP voting after each of the past three seasons, finishing as the runner up to A’ja Wilson the past two years.
