Mike Vrabel provides crucial update on DeAndre Hopkins' Patriots role

FOXBOROUGH, Mass – DeAndre Hopkins' tenure with the New England Patriots did not last very long.

Ahead of the first training camp practice, head coach Mike Vrabel revealed that Hopkins was in the building as he was exploring a potential coaching career. But, after being seen helping out in wide receiver drills early on, Hopkins has been notably absent in recent days.

And on Thursday, Vrabel revealed the latest on Hopkins' status with the Patriots.

“Well, it was a great experience,” Vrabel said. “Hop’s not here, but it was a great experience for all of us. I think that’s what we would try to do when you have some of these unique situations where a player, former player or whatever it may be wants to come in, help and learn, and they love football. So, I think it was good for everybody.”

Hopkins had previously said that he still has a lot of football left to play, so this could mean he's looking for a team to join for the upcoming season, but as a player instead of a coach.
