The names come aplenty for the New England Patriots when it comes to stars who may be in line to breakout in 2026.

Romeo Doubs, TreVeyon Henderson, Craig Woodson and Christian Barmore are all looked at as players who are either on the verge of stardom or primed to see a boost in numbers. While all may very well ascend in unison, even one having a breakout year as expected will go a long way for the team in their efforts to win the Super Bowl next season.
Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness named Woodson as being the Patriots’ breakout candidate for next season.
”A fourth-round pick out of Cal in the 2025 NFL Draft, safety Craig Woodson played 1,202 snaps across the 2025 regular season and playoffs as a rookie,” McGuinness wrote. “His 89.7 PFF run-defense grade far outpaced his 63.0 PFF coverage grade, making him better suited to playing in the box. The addition of Kevin Byard III in free agency should allow him to continue to thrive in that role. Even a modest improvement in coverage could see Woodson begin to earn more recognition.”
Woodson was a key piece for the Patriots in 2025 and helped the team reach the Super Bowl. He led the Patriots with 10 tackles in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks, as well as registering three tackles for a loss and two passes defensed.
The Patriots’ 25-year-old safety has the potential to give the team four high-end players in their starting secondary (at the least) next season, next to NFL interceptions leader Kevin Byard, former All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez and former Super Bowl champion corner Carlton Davis III.
