Nashik: The proposed demolition of the Trimbakeshwar Sub-District Hospital building has been temporarily put on hold, Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said on Saturday. The government is currently examining five possible locations for shifting the hospital and will consult local residents before taking a final decision.
Abitkar was speaking to reporters during his Nashik visit, where he reviewed preparations by the Public Health Department for the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela.

He said the Health Department has been instructed to keep the demolition on hold for the time being. The hospital’s outpatient department (OPD) will continue to operate from the existing premises.

The relocation of the hospital has been discussed with the District Collector. The demolition has been temporarily stayed, and the OPD will continue functioning at the existing location,” Abitkar said.
The government is now inspecting five sites in Trimbakeshwar to identify a suitable location for the hospital. Abitkar said residents would be taken into confidence before the final site is selected.
The decision comes amid concerns over the impact of shifting the hospital, particularly as Trimbakeshwar is expected to witness a major increase in the number of visitors during the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
