Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews notches first walk off hit

Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews came up big for the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The outfielder hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning to seal a 5-4 win and give the Nationals a two-game lead in a four-game series. It was the first walk-off hit of his career.

The Nationals' first two batters of the tenth inning were retired. Two walks loaded the bases since in extra innings, each team begins the frame with a runner on second base. Crews singled past the second baseman into to center field to plate the winning run.

Crews began the season in Triple-A before getting the call up on May 19. He remained with the Nationals ever since and hit a hot streak recently. Over the last seven games, Crews is hitting .286 with eight hits, five RBI, four runs and three walks.

In 2026, his second full season at the top level, Crews is hitting.220 with a .289 on-base percentage and a .652 OPS. He has 71 hits, 44 runs and 34 RBI. The Nationals selected him at No. 2 overall in the 2023 MLB Draft after he and Paul Skenes led LSU to the national championship.
