Mark Mitchell will not enroll at Kentucky and is set to return to Missouri, his agent told Jon Rothstein Monday, Aug. 31.

Mitchell, who is seeking a fifth year of eligibility, was part of a court case in Louisville where he was looking for a temporary restraining order against the NCAA with the ability to enter the transfer portal. It was expected that he would fill the final spot on Mark Pope's roster after receiving the TRO on Aug. 21 and committing to the Wildcats on Aug. 22.
Pope has specifically been seeking an addition to the frontcourt; UK was also linked with former Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler before he committed to BYU on Thursday, Aug. 20. The Wildcats were not permitted to have direct conversations with Mitchell before he entered the transfer portal, but it was stated in the plaintiffs' written submission to the court that Mitchell "desires to play in Kentucky and would be harmed here if he is not allowed to play this season."
A 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward, Mitchell earned All-SEC laurels each of the past two seasons at Missouri. He was the Tigers' leading scorer (13.9 points per game) during the 2024-25 campaign, adding 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Mitchell improved on those figures last season, averaging 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per outing.
A Kansas native, Mitchell has appeared in 134 games (133 starts) in four seasons at the college level. He transferred to Missouri after two seasons at Duke.
