Falcons DT Gervon Dexter picks new uniform number

· Yahoo Sports

The Atlanta Falcons kicked off their cut-down day with a major trade, sending Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for defensive tackle Gervon Dexter. The team's lack of depth on the interior of the defensive line was a clear weakness going into cut day, but Dexter gives Atlanta a quality starter with ascending talent.

Dexter, 24, started all 17 games for the Bears in 2025, recording a career-high six sacks along with two forced fumbles and 11 QB hits. Now that the Falcons have finished assembling their initial 53-man roster, uniform numbers have been assigned.

As you can see below, Dexter is set to wear the No. 95 this season.

The Falcons also recently signed defensive end Za'Darius Smith. After initially wearing the No. 91, Smith has switched to the No. 55.

Dexter and Smith are projected starters along the team's new-look defensive line, although there was one major chance on Monday. The Falcons waived defensive lineman Zach Harrison, another projected starter. However, since the team has two practice squad spots available, that's where Harrison will likely end up, assuming he clears waivers.
