The phrase "taking positives from a defeat" often annoys fans, players and managers but, in this case, Coventry City surely have to look on the bright side as they reflect on a very promising performance at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
It is no consolation for losing the first three league games of a season without scoring for the first time in their history, but they pushed an excellent Manchester City side all the way.

Afterwards, Coventry centre-back Bobby Thomas said it was a game, despite the result, which could kick-start their season. Thomas said they approached the fixture differently to their two opening matches, being "more diligent" in the roles the players took up throughout the 90 minutes.
Watching from the stands, you could definitely see that the back five made them more solid against Manchester City's frightening forward line.
As I walked down to the interview area after the game, I heard home fans talking about how physical and dangerous Coventry had been in the 90 minutes and many were saying the hosts had been lucky to come away with all three points.
