Coming off of a Super Bowl loss, the Patriots team has seen some changes, but has kept many familiar faces. Drake Maye is returning as quarterback and cornerback Christian Gonzalez's is coming back after a long contract negotiation.
Less than two days before New England's season debut, Gonzalez has signed to a four-year, $135-million contract with the New England team, according to NFL reporting, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. This marks a substantial increase since he first signed as a rookie in July 21, 2023 for about $15 million.
And now, the Patriots will get to have a chance at Super Bowl redemption with their first opponents of the 2026-2027 regular season.
