Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks opened the 2026 NFL season with a 13-10 victory over the New England Patriots.

Seattle entered the opener having won 10 straight games, dating back to the final seven regular-season games of 2025. The Seahawks also went through the postseason without a loss, winning all three playoff games, including Super Bowl LX.
The Seahawks finished the 2025 regular season with a 14-3 record and earned the NFC’s No. 1 seed, giving them a first-round bye. Seattle then won its divisional-round matchup, the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LX.

At 39 years old, Macdonald became the youngest head coach in the Super Bowl era to win 11 consecutive games, including the playoffs. He is also the first coach under 40 to reach that mark during the era.
The streak began with Seattle’s late-season surge in 2025, when the Seahawks won their final seven regular-season games. Three postseason victories followed before the 2026 opener extended the winning streak to 11 games.

Seahawks continue historic run under Macdonald
Mike Macdonald has overseen a rapid turnaround since taking over in 2024. Seattle went 10-7 in his first season before improving to 14-3 and winning the Super Bowl in his second year.
The Seahawks also finished the 2025 season with the NFL’s No. 1 scoring defense. Seattle will now look to extend its winning streak as it begins its first season as defending Super Bowl champions under Macdonald. The Seahawks will be back in action on the road against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 20
