Julius Randle Gets Vote of Confidence From $40M Worth Teammate, Makes Bold Prediction About Their Season

Julius Randle will join the Brooklyn Nets not only as their most experienced player with significant playoff experience but also, arguably, as the team’s best scoring option.

The three-time All-Star’s stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves came to an end after two seasons last July as part of a four-team trade that sent LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets to the Timberwolves.

Randle can still play at a high level. He averaged 21 points per game for his last team and missed only three games during the regular season.

Minnesota reached the Western Conference Finals during his first season with the team before being eliminated in the second round last season by finalists San Antonio Spurs.

Now, Randle joins a team that is more focused on developing young players. Expectations are not particularly high for the Nets despite the acquisition of the veteran power forward.

Randle, however, remains unfazed. He believes his Nets can surprise people.

“Whatever your expectations are, whatever expectations are that are put upon us, we’re gonna exceed them,” Randle told reporters on Saturday,

“We’re gonna do things at a very high level. We’re gonna build. We’re gonna come in with the right habits every single day, and we’re gonna do exactly that, [shock the world].”

MPJ on dynamics with Julius Randle

Randle can become the focal point of coach Jordi Fernandez’s offense. Of course, he won’t be able to do it alone.

The former All-Star will play alongside 2023 NBA champion Michael Porter Jr., who knows what he needs to do.

MPJ also has lofty goals for the Nets, and he believes his chemistry with Randle will be crucial.

“If we can get that chemistry right, all of our young guys from last year got so much better,” Porter said (via N3on’s stream).

“I don’t know what the expectations are for our team, but we’re definitely going to surpass them.”

Before that, Porter Jr. praised Randle’s game, saying he can benefit from the veteran’s style.

“He can get downhill, draw a double team, and then swing it to me. I can shoot the three.”
