Kalen DeBoer talks Keelon Russell, Alabama’s explosive offense in win over South Carolina

For an Alabama team which has had slow starts in the last couple of weeks, the Tide came out on all cylinders Saturday in the first half to the tune of 318 yards en route to a 35-10 halftime lead.

The Tide defeated the Gamecocks 49-18 in which Kalen DeBoer’s team rolled up 491 yards of offense.
Keelon Russell was 13 of 15 for 234 yards and four touchdowns in the first two quarters. He finished 21 of 27 passing for 365 yards and the four passing touchdowns. He added a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

“He’s comfortable back there and our line is doing a good job, for the most part,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said at halftime on ESPN. “Our guys are going down field and running routes hard and making plays.
“We got to keep the peddle down and it’s all about execution, continue to come after it and can’t let off our guard.”
Ryan Coleman Williams has four catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, then ended the night with five catches for 98 yards.
The South Carolina secondary appears to be the remedy Ryan Coleman-Williams needed.

DeBoer, who saw his team add 84 first-half rushing yards, said his team will continue to take what Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks will give them.
“We just need to keep executing, keep Keelon upright,” DeBoer told the Crimson Tide Sports Network. “We did a pretty good job of that and that’s allowed him to look down field, find guys open.
“If they are going to keep rolling guys down to try to stop the run, they’re going to keep opening up.”
The Tide finished with 124 yards on the ground.
EJ Crowell finished with 50 yards on six carries, including a 39-yard run.
