Dislocated thumb for Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb) suffered a dislocated right thumb near the end of the Week 3 game against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Sunday, Sept. 27.
Bowles said that Mayfield will undergo an MRI on Monday, Sept. 28. Mayfield was injured on an incompletion late in the game, trying to keep his team alive on a fourth-down play. He was tackled, and went down in pain, and he could be heard screaming on the telecast.

Mayfield finished the game 17 of 34 passing with 217 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while running twice for six yards. He was also sacked six times.
Why it Matters: Mayfield has been struggling through the first three games, including a loss in a revenge game in Week 2 against his former team, the Cleveland Browns. Now, he is hurt, and could miss time. Jalon Daniels is the backup, and he finished up the game, but it wouldn't be shocking to see the team add a veteran if Mayfield is forced to miss multiple games, rather than going with the unproven Daniels under center.
