Potentially Massive Blow for Steelers Defensive Line

For the second week in a row, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made defensive lineman Yahya Black a late addition to their injury report.

Black is officially questionable to play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, the team announced on Saturday, citing personal reason.
Black was also listed as questionable to play the day before the team’s Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns, but he played in that game and was a full participant in practice the entire week leading up to the Steelers’ Week 5 home date.
The Steelers were expecting to lean on Black even more than usual this week, with starting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon out several weeks with a foot injury.
Black, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 330 pounds, has four combined tackles this season, working into a strong interior defensive line group that also includes Harmon, Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton and Sebastian Joseph-Day.
Rookie Gabriel Rubio is expected to make his NFL debut for the Steelers on Sunday in place of Harmon. Undrafted rookie Kevin Jobity Jr. could also join the lineup if Black cannot play.
“He’s a guy that, man, has a very, very high ceiling,” Steelers defensive line coach Domata Peko said of Harmon last month. “Really happy with what he’s done so far, but stuff that we’ve been working on with him is just being more consistent. But he shows it on tape, man. He’s one of our hardest workers out there. The things that I do love about him is that he can play the run heavy — he’s solid in the run game — and then he’s an elusive guy. He can get after the passer with speed or power and get on edges of guys, so Harm’s a special guy. … I’m excited to just continue to unlock some of his elite traits.”
