Georgia softball (38-17, 12-12 SEC) is on a historic streak for the Tony Baldwin era in the SEC Tournament in Lexington, Ky.
Visit newssport.cv for more information.
The Bulldogs earned the 9-seed in the SEC Tournament and knocked down 8-seeded LSU in the second round, advancing for the first time to the quarterfinals since Baldwin became head coach. But the history didn't stop there as they went on to score 10 unanswered runs and take down the top-seeded team, 10-5, who swept them just a week ago, in Patty Gasso's Oklahoma.
Georgia has not won a conference tournament title since 2014 under Lu Harris-Champer. And that was the Bulldogs' only conference tournament title in program history, which dates back to 1997.
They will face 4-seed Texas (40-10) next in the semifinals on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. to close out the fourth day of action.
The last time the Bulldogs and Longhorns met on the diamond was in April at Jack Turner Stadium. The Longhorns did not complete the sweep, heading back to the Lone Star State, 2-1. The Bulldogs made a comeback in the second game and put up a fight in the third game to stretch it extra innings.
