Two FSU Seminoles crack Bruce Feldman’s annual Freaks List
· Yahoo Sports
Florida State football landed two players on one of college football’s most recognizable preseason lists, with Micahi Danzy and Mandrell Desir earning spots on Bruce Feldman’s annual “Freaks List” for The Athletic.
Danzy, a wide receiver and accomplished sprinter for the Seminoles, checked in at No. 12, while Desir, a sophomore defensive lineman, appeared at No. 57. Feldman’s annual list highlights college football players whose combinations of speed, strength, explosiveness and other measurable traits separate them physically from their peers. This year’s edition features 101 players.

Danzy made a significant jump after ranking No. 68 on Feldman’s list a year ago. His placement comes after a breakout 2025 season in which he caught 27 passes for 571 yards and three touchdowns while adding 216 yards and three scores on 12 rushing attempts. His 21.15 yards per reception led the ACC, and he produced six plays of at least 50 yards.
The Tallahassee native’s track background remains a major part of his athletic profile. Danzy ran a 44.38-second 400 meters at the 2025 ACC Outdoor Championships, setting Florida State, ACC and meet records. Feldman also highlighted his work in the weight room, including a 335-pound clean, and reported that FSU’s GPS tracking has clocked Danzy at 23 mph during football activity.
Desir’s inclusion comes after an impressive debut season. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman finished 2025 with 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks across 12 games. His sack total was the third-highest by a true freshman in Florida State history, trailing only Ron Simmons and Brian Burns, and earned him FWAA Freshman All-America recognition along with honorable mention All-ACC honors.
His offseason testing numbers helped explain the No. 57 ranking. Feldman reported that Desir has bench pressed 405 pounds, squatted 515 pounds and consistently reached 20.2 mph through GPS tracking — an impressive speed for a defensive lineman of his size.
The recognition gives Florida State representatives on both sides of the ball as the Seminoles prepare for the 2026 season. Danzy enters the fall as one of FSU’s most explosive offensive weapons, while Desir will look to build on a freshman campaign that quickly established him as a disruptive presence along the defensive front.
