Scouting Saturday Week 2: 6 prospects for Packers fans to watch

One more sleep until the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings at US Bank Stadium. Until then, let’s dive into some prospects Packers fans should keep tabs on during the Week 2 slate of the college football season.
With the Packers expected to have a heavy presence at the Mississippi State at Minnesota game, we’ll start with the SEC vs. Big 10 matchup.

Mississippi State vs. Minnesota (2:30 p.m. CBS)
Ashton Beers, iOL: Beers fits what the Packers look for in interior lineman. The Gophers starting center has 14 starts at center, seven at right guard and two at left guard to his name. He also has taken snaps at left tackle. With his position versatility, size (6-6, 320) and football acumen, Beers could be a target for the Packers on Day 3 of the 2027 NFL Draft.
Jaray Bledsoe, DT, Mississippi State: Bledsoe is an active interior presence. Last week the former Texas transfer recorded 1.5 tackles for loss after he recorded 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks last season. The 6-4, 290 pound defensive tackle will face a tough test against Minnesota’s interior offensive line that boasts potential first-round pick Greg Johnson and Beers.
No. 1 Ohio State at No. 4 Texas (6:30 p.m. ABC)
John Walker, DT, Ohio State: A month ago if you were to discuss the Ohio State defensive tackles, you’d likely hear the names James Smith and Eddrick Houston and for good reason, both prospects are fine players. Houston looked like an immovable object last week against Ball State. John Walker though was the defensive tackle that caught my attention. He showed good initial quickness off the snap and power to make an impact against the run and impact the timing of the quarterback. I charted him with a pair of run stops and two pressures.
Melvin Siani, OT, Texas: A transfer from Temple and Wake Forest, Siani has started games at both tackle spots (17 at LT and 8 at RT). At 6-6, 315 pounds the Texas starting right tackle has ideal size. He's a good athlete and has the lateral quickness to mirror in protection. He’ll have his hands full against Ohio State edge rushers Kenyatta Jackson Jr and Beau Atkinson.
No. 12 Alabama at Kentucky (2:30 p.m. ABC/Disney)
Bray Hubbard, S, Alabama: The Packers are set at safety, in fact one could argue that it could be the strongest position group on the defensive side of the ball. However, if they do look to add one in the upcoming draft, Hubbard would be an ideal target. He shows good range covering the backend and he’s absolutely fearless running the alley in run support.
Tavion Gadson, DT, Kentucky: At 6-4, 302 pounds, Gadson certainly looks the part of an NFL defensive tackle. A year ago, Gadson recorded four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Gadson is light on his feet and shows good range to make plays from tackle-to-tackle. With his off-the-snap quickness and hand usage, Gadson has the tools to develop into a three-down force for the Wildcats.
