Jürgen Klopp has been making waves this week with some big decisions around squad personnel this week. Fans have heard lots about goalkeepers, strikers, wingers, but it has mostly been quiet surrounding centre-back choices. That has now changed as we at least have one confirmed name in Klopp’s first central defender choices.

Sky reporter Kerry Hau reports that Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck will be called up by the former Liverpool boss for Germany’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. It is a strong choice and one that is not entirely surprising either. Bisseck has been called up several times in the past and is still a young centre-back with a long career ahead of him.

Most won’t consider him as a starter-caliber option quite yet, but with Nico Schlotterbeck just back from an injury and Antonio Rüdiger now retired from the national team, there is certainly a spot up for grabs, at least for the time being. Was Bisseck a good choice or should Klopp had made more of a reach to callup an even younger option such as VfB Stuttgart’s Finn Jeltsch or Werder Bremen’s Karim Coulibaly?
