Nebraska is coming off a 56-7 win over Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon. This follows a 49-21 victory over Ohio in the season opener.
The Nebraska offense has been performing at a high level. They have averaged 52.5 points per game to begin the year, which ranks them in the top 10 nationally. They are averaging 534.5 yards per game, which puts them seventh in the country. They have racked up 1,069 yards over eight quarters.
Beyond the sheer yardage, they have done it efficiently. In Saturday’s win over Ohio, they averaged 8.3 yards per play. Dana Holgerson has clearly put his stamp on this offensive unit, and Rhule is letting him go to work.
"This is Dana's offense. At the end of the day, he doesn't care if he (Colandrea) throws it 40 times or runs it 40 times. He just wants it to work."
It will be interesting to see if this holds up during Big Ten play. For now, however, the Huskers are firing on all cylinders and have a clear offensive identity for the first time in a while.
