Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Lands New Trade Update from NFL Insider
· Yahoo Sports
The Cleveland Browns have a decision to make at the quarterback position before the upcoming NFL trade deadline. Do they keep four quarterbacks on the roster or do they trade one of them?
Shedeur Sanders has become a popular name in the rumor mill over the last couple of weeks. As teams around the league continue losing quarterbacks to injury, his name has come up as a potential trade candidate leading up to the deadline.

Entering the 2026 NFL season, the Browns had an open quarterback competition between Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Todd Monken decided to roll with Watson as his starter. That has left Sanders watching from the sideline.
Last season as a rookie, Sanders completed 56.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also picked up 169 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
With all of that being said, an ESPN NFL insider has provided a new update about Cleveland’s current quarterback situation and the trade rumors surrounding it.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes that the Browns will be open to trading either Sanders or Dillon Gabriel before the deadline. He thinks that Cleveland would prefer to hold onto Watson and rookie Taylen Green.
“I could see if they get the right offer for whoever it is, I think Taylen Green they’d like to keep as a developmental, so it would probably have to be Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel,” Fowler said.
“I am not saying they’re definitely trading, I am saying they have the flexibility. This is very much a value-based team. The Browns are that more than any other.”
Moving on from Sanders could make sense. If the Browns don’t view him as a long-term starter, they should deal him before the media coverage gets even more intense. Using a 2027 draft pick on another quarterback would immediate send Sanders’ name to the top of the news cycle.
Only time will tell what Cleveland ends up doing at quarterback. There is a chance the Browns would roll past the deadline with all four quarterbacks still on the roster. Or, they could consider trading Sanders or Gabriel.
