Report: Jamal Shead, Raptors agree to three-year, $24 million contract extension

Jamal Shead has agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, coming to terms on a deal that will keep the 2024 second-round pick in Toronto through the 2029-30 season.

Shead, 24, has established himself as a critical reserve for head coach Darko Rajaković across two seasons with the Raptors, averaging 6.9 points, 4.8 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 21.1 minutes per game since entering the NBA out of the University of Houston. He played a key role in Toronto’s return to the playoffs last season, averaging 32 minutes per game and making four starts in place of the injured Immanuel Quickley in the Raptors’ seven-game opening-round loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
